  • He was a 16th-century Japanese Jesuit seminarian and well-known preacher.
  • Because the Jesuits' influence was feared in Japan, Paul was arrested, jailed, and forced to walk 600 miles to Nagasaki where he was crucified with 25 other Catholics.
  • He preached his last sermon from the cross and sincerely forgave his executioners.
