    Facts about St. Marianne Cope

  • She was a German-born nun who worked in a hospital in Syracuse, NY.
  • Along with six other Sisters, Marianne moved to Hawaii to care for those suffering from leprosy (including Fr. Damien of Molokai).
  • Marianne never contracted the contagious disease. She died in 1918 at the age of 80.
